started as Projeto Brasil, Portuguese classes for children that spoke the language, but needed to practice and learn to read and write. Projeto Brasil experimented wih different methodologies as well as curricula. Catering to a special public, it was difficult to find materials that fulfilled the needs of these bilingual children. The Bilingual Kids curriculum was slowly created and changes are made yearly to improve and keep it updated.
In 2008 Projeto Brasil became Figo Learning Center. Why? Because we wanted to offer more to our students. Therefore, in 2009 we added Spanish and Capoeira. We have plans of adding Mandarin Chinese among other languages and other activities such as arts, yoga.
We now offer classes for both beginners and bilingual students in either Spanish or Portuguese. Capoeira, which is a unique style of dance, a martial art combined with acrobatic movements and music, an elegant yet physically powerful form of body expression, has been a wonderful addition. It is taught in Portuguese, English and Spanish.
